“With every minute together, I grew increasingly energized by these thoughtful and accomplished leaders and their commitment to building a more equitable and sustainable community,” says SRCHC CEO, Shannon Wiens. “I participated in and was witness to many transformation-driven conversations intended to truly put people at the centre of our health-care system.”
To move forward, sometimes we also have to look back and refresh from what we’ve learned from our ever-evolving past. Next year, SRCHC will be celebrating 50 years of providing team-based healthcare in East Toronto. From humble beginnings, caring for our first clients in a former police station on Pape Avenue to a complex, multi-faceted organization now serving more than 15,000 people annually across seven unique sites, our story is one of caring, listening, learning, growing and delivering high-quality care – year after year.
“Behind every innovative organization is a dedicated team of people working with care and purpose,” shares Board Chair, Rebecca Ho. “I’m proud to support Shannon, who just completed her first year as CEO, as well as my talented colleagues, in helping shape such a meaningful future for South Riverdale. We’re working hard together to strengthen one of Ontario’s leading voices in inclusive and coordinated team-based primary care and community health.”
Many thanks to each of our Board Members for sharing their strong governance practices, strategic acumen, and unified voices to help co-design our future. “This year’s strategic planning event was an enriching experience – one I know will set us on the right path forward,” reflects Shannon. “And now, buoyed by so much spirit and passion, we also have the momentum to get there. Thank you to all our volunteer Board Members!”
