Getting Elected to the Board of Directors
SRCHC offers programs and services that work together to improve the overall wellbeing of our community.
To stand for election to the board you must:
- Support the Centre’s mission, vision, objectives, and values;
- Either:
– Live or do 75% of your work or study within the Centre’s catchment area (east of the Don River, west of Warden Avenue, south of O’Connor Drive/Eglinton Avenue, south to the lake); OR
– Be a user of the Centre’s services; AND - Must be eligible to be a director under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporation Act, 2010 (ONCA).
Current employees or contractors of the Centre, or their immediate family members, are not eligible to serve as a director of the Centre.

TO BE A BOARD MEMBER YOU MUST:
- Support the Centre’s Mission, Vision, Objectives, and Values.
- Either:
- Live or do 75% of your work or study within the Centre’s catchment area (east of the Don River, west of Warden Avenue, south of O’Connor Drive/Eglinton Avenue, south to the lake); OR
- Be a user of the Centre’s services.
- Must be eligible to be a director under ONCA.
- Commit to an average of 6-10 hours per month for board/committee meetings.
- Speak and read English well enough to participate fully in board business.
- Read and agree to the Board’s Code of Conduct Policy.
- Have no conflicts of interest as defined in the Code of Conduct Policy and Agreements.
- This year recruitment is focused on candidates from the North-East area of the catchment*
- Secondary criteria include:
- Individuals from equity-deserving groups **
- Lived experience ***
- Between the age of 19-29 or over the age of 60
- Not-for-profit organization and/or community volunteer experience
- Secondary criteria include:
* North of Danforth Avenue to O’Connor Drive and east of Coxwell Avenue to Warden Avenue
** Belonging to a racialized/marginalized community
*** Lived experience of poverty, underhousing, disability, chronic conditions, and newcomers
