Common questions about joining social programs at SRCHC
- Is everybody eligible to join your social programs?
Yes. Most are open to everyone. Just check the details for each group or event.
- Do I have to sign up or register in advance?
Most programs need registration ahead of time, but we offer drop-in sessions as well. You can refer to our program list for more information on each event. If you have any questions, please reach out.
- Is there a cost to participate?
Most of our programs are free, including group meets, meals, and workshops. Some programs have a small yearly fee to help cover materials and encourage regular participation, but we’ll always let you know in advance, and no one will be turned away because of cost.
- Do I need to live in the neighbourhood?
Many of our social programs are neighbourhood- and language-based, so most of our participants tend to be local — it’s simply easier for them to visit us. If you’re coming from farther away, just check the program details or get in touch – we’ll help you figure it out.
- How do I find out what’s happening this month?
Each program page includes a list of activities with dates and times, so if you’re interested in something like yoga, you’ll see the full schedule for all the different sessions. You can also download printable monthly calendars in the Resources section of this page or call us if you’d like help finding what you need.
- What if I’m shy or nervous to join?
Many people feel a bit shy at first – that’s completely normal. Our facilitators do their best to create a welcoming environment. You can always bring a friend or loved one if that helps you feel more comfortable.
- Can I suggest an idea for a group or workshop?
Yes! We love co-creating programs with community members.
