New to Canada? We can offer you support.

Getting newcomer support at SRCHC
Whether you came here as a refugee, a recent immigrant, or a temporary worker, we understand that it can be hard to find support you can trust. We believe everyone should be able to access care regardless of health insurance or immigration status. That’s why we provide safe spaces and programs that are led by staff who understand different cultures and lived experiences – so you can take care of your health without judgment.
We also partner with other local organizations who specialize in newcomer support, so, if we can’t help, we’ll connect you with someone who can.

No. You can still access many of our services even if you don’t have OHIP or any other insurance.
- Can I come to SRCHC if I’m not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?
Yes. We welcome people of all immigration statuses, including refugee claimants and people without status.
- Will someone at SRCHC speak my language?
Some of our staff and program leaders speak languages like Bengali, Chinese, French, Gujarati, Spanish, Tagalog, and Tamil. If we don’t speak your language, we’ll do our best to find a way to communicate clearly, with help if needed.

Yes. Most of our services are free. If a program has any cost, we’ll let you know ahead of time.
- What kind of help can I get with my health?
We offer basic medical care, pregnancy support, and referrals to specialists or community clinics.
- Do you offer help with housing, food, or income?
Yes. We can connect you with housing workers, food programs, and people who can help with forms or applications.
- Can I still get help if I don’t have ID?
Yes. Not having ID won’t stop you from getting support here.
- Are there programs just for people new to Canada?
Yes. We offer groups and support specially for newcomer families, seniors, and others. You’re also welcome in many of our general programs.
