Volunteers Needed

The operations of SRCHC are overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the South  Riverdale community. Current Board members come from a wide variety of backgrounds but everybody is a member of the organization, which means they either live or work in the community or receive services here.  In addition, it is important to have an interest in the work of the Centre.

Generally every year the Board recruits people to apply as candidates.  Each year one half of theBoard members complete their 2 year term, whichmeans there are 6 positions to fill annually.  The SRCHC Board and its Nominations Committee want to make sure that anybody who might be interested in becoming a Board member is aware of the opportunity to become involved.  Although a term is two years, each board member is allowed to serve three consecutive terms.  Most of us serve more than one term.

If you are interested,  you are invited to attend a general meeting where you can learn about what the Board does.  If you are still interested after this meeting, you can submit an application with references and the nomination committee will contact you for an interview.  You will then be requested to attend a Board Meeting in April or May and provide a brief description of yourself that can be sent out to members before the election at the Annual General Meeting on June 27th.

It sounds like a lot to go through, but any of the SRCHC Board Members you speak to will tell you that they have really enjoyed their time on the board and felt they have contributed to the community.  We hope to see you come out, it’s is a great opportunity!
