Breast Cancer Information & Support

Building Breast Healthy Neighbourhoods (BBHN)

Women find support and learn about risk factors, screening and treatment options for breast cancer.

Women may also become Breast Health Champions, volunteering a few hours a month to raise awareness and teach others about early detection. Free training, information materials and on-going mentorship will be provided.

Group activities may include:

  • educational workshops
  • videos and discussions
  • tours of breast screening (mammography) clinics
  • shopping and cooking healthy foods

Women often ask:

  • “I feel a lump in my breast. Do I have breast cancer?”
  • “How do I know if something’s wrong?”
  • “My mother had breast cancer. Am I going to get it?”
  • “How can I reduce the risk of getting breast cancer?”
  • “I eat a lot of healthy stuff. Can I still get breast cancer?”
  • “I’ve never had a mammogram. Why is it important?”
  • “Is cancer infectious?”
  • “Am I going to die?”
